The Jessner peel is a medium-depth peel. It penetrates the skin’s top layer (the epidermis) as well as the outer portion of the middle layer (the dermis). However, we can modify the solution for treatment to achieve a superficial peel if you require a faster healing time. If modified, you may need a Jessner peel more frequently to achieve the results of a medium-depth peel.

Chemical peels penetrate layers of the skin in different ways.
Superficial peels target the outermost layer of skin—the epidermis. This peel is best for mild skin concerns, like minor blemishes and fine lines. The superficial peel is popular among patients who maintain a regular skin maintenance routine.
Medium peels penetrate deeper, into the top of the second layer of skin—the dermis, making it a popular solution to target moderate skin concerns. Many patients choose this peel to help them tackle acne scars and wrinkles. Anyone seeking this treatment should be prepared for a little bit more downtime than a superficial peel.
