Laser Hair Removal
Men and women of all skin types can benefit from laser hair removal treatments. Women often seek treatment to remove hair from their underarms, bikini lines, and legs, while men most often desire hair removal from their backs and necks. When laser hair removal was first introduced, it was intended for patients with light skin and dark hair. With recent technological developments, that’s not the case anymore. Now, patients of all skin types, tones, and hair colors are great candidates for laser hair removal.
Most patients don’t consider laser hair removal painful, but the treatment area will likely feel tender and appear red (like a mild sunburn) for 24 to 48 hours after your session.
Once we’re done with treatment for laser hair removal in Florence, we’ll apply ice packs to maximize your comfort. Most patients resume daily activities right after their session, but you may want to avoid prolonged sun exposure for a few weeks following treatment.
In preparation for laser hair removal treatment, we recommend you limit plucking or waxing for about 6 weeks before your appointment. That’s because the laser targets pigment in the roots of the hair. By removing these roots, treatment may be ineffective.
You’ll also want to avoid sun exposure for 6 weeks prior to your treatment. The effects the sun’s rays have on the skin may interfere with the laser’s effectiveness and can exacerbate any potential side effects.
