Ultherapy Lifts And Tightens Skin Without Surgery.

If you desire a more youthful appearance but aren’t ready for a facelift or other invasive procedures, there are some noninvasive treatment options available that have proven to be quite effective. One of the latest innovations, Ultherapy®, is known as the gold standard in nonsurgical skin lifting and tightening. It’s the only technology FDA cleared to “lift” the skin of the neck and brow and is as close as you can get to a face or necklift without surgery or downtime. It’s also great for smoothing unwanted wrinkles on the chest and décolletage.

How does Ultherapy work?

Ultherapy works by stimulating your body’s natural collagen production by delivering micro-focused ultrasound energy to the foundation layer underneath the skin that’s typically tightened during surgical facelift procedures. That layer is called the superficial muscular aponeurotic system, or SMAS. Unlike lasers and radiofrequency technologies, the ultrasound energy triggers a natural response in the SMAS, which revs up the regenerative process of producing new collagen. With that, natural-looking lifting and tightening of the treated tissue takes place. While Ultherapy doesn’t duplicate the more dramatic results associated with a surgical facelift, it’s a clinically proven alternative to produce noticeable results for all skin types.

Am I a candidate for Ultherapy treatment?

Candidates for Ultherapy are generally in good health and have some degree of skin laxity. Patients most often have loose skin on the neck and jawline, and/or lines and wrinkles on their chest. People in their 30s and older who have mild to moderate skin laxity can typically benefit from treatment. Ultherapy should not be considered a replacement for a facelift, but there are many people who still desire some degree of lifting without surgery.

Ultherapy has even been classified as a method of “pre-juvenation” for people in their 20s and 30s or to tackle early signs of aging for those in their 40s. Ultimately, anyone seeking smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin may be good candidates. Dr. Susan Bushelman and her staff at Derm Aesthetics of Northern Kentucky will perform a thorough evaluation to make sure Ultherapy is the right treatment for you.

Does Ultherapy hurt?

Ultherapy treatment does feature some intensity because it addresses deeper layers of tissue compared to other technologies, so there is some discomfort involved. But your comfort is always our priority, so we offer the option for the Pro-Nox™ Nitrous Oxide System. This helps to ensure you can experience the advantages of this amazing treatment with some peace of mind.

What are the results from Ultherapy treatment?

Most patients notice improvement almost immediately after their treatment session. But optimal results gradually begin to show up in the following weeks as collagen production is jumpstarted. Best results generally appear over two to three months and can last up to a year or more. Since Ultherapy stimulates your body’s own collagen production, the length of time results last depends on each individual. Your own lifestyle and natural aging process will dictate how long that translates into visible results. Future touch-up treatments may be recommended to provide long-lasting improvement based on your personal goals.

Is there any recovery needed with Ultherapy?

There’s generally no downtime needed after treatment with Ultherapy. Most patients resume their normal activities immediately after their procedure without any post-treatment restrictions. The skin at the treatment site may appear flushed, but this redness usually dissipates within a few hours. Due to Ultherapy’s ability to address deeper layers of tissue, some patients do experience slight swelling, tenderness, or tingling in the treatment area, but these effects are usually mild and temporary in nature. Less common side effects may include temporary bruising or numbness.
