Sofwave in Northern Kentucky is the Future of Noninvasive Skin Regeneration.
When it comes to youthful, resilient skin, having plentiful collagen is king. But as we age, natural collagen production can slow down dramatically. That leads to the telltale signs of aging, such as wrinkles and sagging. But it also contributes to unwanted skin conditions like acne scars and cellulite, which can occur at younger ages. Fortunately, there are some revolutionary noninvasive aesthetic treatments that can address these and other concerns. Sofwave™ is one of the newest options for noninvasive skin regeneration, and we’ve got it at Derm Aesthetics of Northern Kentucky.
How does Sofwave work?
Sofwave utilizes breakthrough technology that harnesses the power of ultrasound energy to heat the dermis layer of skin to stimulate the production of collagen, elastin, and hyaluronic acid. This all helps improve skin laxity and eventually leads to younger-looking skin without the need for surgery, needles, downtime, or aftercare. The process involves proprietary Synchronous Ultrasound Parallel Beam Technology (or SUPERB™), which are high-intensity, high-frequency parallel beams that bypass the epidermal layer and direct a thermal dose to depths of 0.5-2mm, while avoiding injury to deeper structures.
What is Sofwave used to treat?
Sofwave’s amazing technology is FDA-cleared for treating the following skin concerns:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Mild to moderate sagging of the eyebrow, neck, and submental
- Acne scars
- Cellulite
Am I a candidate for treatment with Sofwave in Northern Kentucky?
Ideal candidates for Sofwave are typically people in their 30s or older who are displaying mild to moderate signs of aging, or who wish to address acne scars or cellulite. This unique, noninvasive technology is suitable for all skin types and tones. We will evaluate your individual situation at your consultation and help you determine if Sofwave is right for you.
What is treatment with Sofwave like?
During treatment, you may feel a warming sensation on your skin as ultrasound energy is delivered to the targeted area. If you’re concerned about this sensation, we can apply a topical anesthetic cream just before treatment. When it’s all said and done, you’re free to resume your daily activities as normal. A complete treatment can take as little as 30-45 minutes, depending on the degree of condition being treated. Our patients love that they can often fit Sofwave into their busy schedules during any season.
How many treatments with Sofwave will I need for best results?
Most patients only need one treatment for visible improvement of fine lines and wrinkles. Some may benefit from an additional treatment, depending on their body’s response to Sofwave. When addressing acne scars, however, the number of treatment sessions depends on multiple factors, such as age, genetics, severity of scarring, nutrition, and lifestyle. The typical recommended number of sessions for treating acne scars is generally one to three treatments spaced about four to eight weeks apart. For cellulite, some patients may see results in four to six weeks after the first treatment, while others will need two treatments.
Are there any side effects with Sofwave?
Sofwave is designed to offer minimal downtime for optimized convenience. During clinical testing, no bruising, device-related adverse events, or persistent pain/tenderness were reported by participants. This is largely due to Sofwave’s noninvasive nature requiring zero penetration of the skin.
How long does it take to see results, and how long do they last?
Some patients have reported seeing immediate results as soon as one week following treatment. The natural skin regeneration process can sometimes take up to 12 weeks, however, so patients are expected to see ongoing improvements in that time. Clinical evidence of Sofwave shows a significant effect up to one year following a single treatment, specifically for lifting of the eyebrow, neck and submental.
